Digital Radiology & Ultrasound for Pets in Orlando, FLDowntown Pet HospitalVeterinary TechnologyAt Downtown Pet Hospital we are proud to be on the cutting edge of medical technology. Digital Radiology and Ultrasound are diagnostic tools that we use to look inside the body in a completely non-invasive way. X-rays allow us to create 2-dimensional images of the body's organs, and is usually focused on either the thorax (chest - including heart and lungs), or the abdomen (abdominal organs - such as liver, stomach, spleen, kidneys, intestines, and urinary bladder). Ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of body structures based on the pattern of echoes reflected from the tissues and organs being imaged. Although radiography itself is painless, sedation is often desirable to reduce anxiety and stress associated with the procedure, to promote acquisition of good diagnostic studies with minimal repeats, and to control pain associated with manipulation in animals with painful disorders such as fractures and arthritis. Basically, the use of radiology gives us a view of the internal organs in your pet's body that we otherwise could not see. It is an important diagnostic tool that helps veterinarians detect and prevent illness! With the use of digital radiology (for x-ray and ultrasound), we now have the capability to send images digitally for consultations by board certified veterinary radiologists in Orlando, FL. We get reports back within hours to several days, and is a valuable tool where we get the benefit of a specialist reviewing the images and case. The use of radiology is safe, and all of our staff are highly trained and utilize proper personal protections. We have also just added a new full body digital x-ray unit that provides one of the lowest doses of radiation on the market. It is our goal to provide your pet with the highest level of medical care possible in Orlando, FL, and this is just one of the many ways we achieve that. |
